Fairbank First Cross
We commenced breeding first cross rams in 2013 after several client enquiries about combining the best genetics of each breed.
We utilise Southdown and Poll Dorset genetics to combine the higher growth and the muscle of the Poll Dorset with the higher fat, length and early maturity attributes of the Southdown.
The Southdown also has superior marbling and tenderness which is creating significant advantages to meat eating quality. Aimed at producing trade lambs with higher eating qualities we use up to 100 Ewes in this program.
In 2019, Charollais rams were also introduced into this program.
